Japan Checklist

Ever wonder what you need to take to Japan with you? Here is my holiday checklist! Sorry this is quite female-orientated!

Essentials
  • Yen/Money (Japan is a cash society. I recommend taking cash with you.)
  • Passport
  • Visa (From the UK, a Visa is not needed. Make sure you have one otherwise.)
  • ID cards (Driving License)
  • Credit/Debit Cards
  • Purse/Wallet
  • Medication (Check what's legal! Codeine and such is not!)
  • Plane Tickets/Boarding passes
  • Maps/Plans/Print-out of travel insurance
  • Mobile phone (02 works in Japan but not sure about others.)
  • Contact numbers (Hotel etc)
  • Camera/Charger/Case/Memory card

On the flight
  • MP3 player
  • Headphones (some planes need special ones)
  • Nintendo DS/3DS/PSP and charger/games
  • Travel pillow
  • Eyemask/ear plugs
  • Drink/Sweets (buy them after security)
Luggage
  • Clothing (Really depends on the weather!)
  • Socks/Tights/Leggings
  • Underwear
  • Nightwear
  • Comfortable shoes
  • Hairbrush
  • Hair straighteners (Hairdryers from the UK usually don't work in Japan. Hotels will have them. GHD's work in Japan)
  • Towel/Flannel
  • Swimming costume
  • Comfortable bag/backpack
  • Umbrella/waterproofs (hopefully you won't need them!)
  • Luggage tags/padlock attached to case
  • Leave space for your purchases!
Toiletries (Save these for your baggage, not hand luggage, it's a hassle!)
  • Shampoo/Conditioner
  • Deodorant (recommend roll-on for luggage)
  • Toothbrush/paste
  • Make-up
  • Sun-cream
  • Moisturiser
  • Tissues
  • Wet wipes/face wipes
  • Razor/shaving cream (Not in hand luggage!)
  • Nail varnish/remover
  • Tampons/Pads
That's all I can think of for now: will be packing soon, so this may get updated!]
